Argyle Street Family Dentist in Parramatta is proud to support the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) which commenced on 1 January 2014 and provides children with benefits for basic dental services. The new Child Dental Benefits Schedule will assist 3.4 million eligible children, aged 2 – 17 years, with $1000 worth of selected general dental treatments over a 2 calendar year period.

Why Should Your Child Visit The Dentist?

Childhood years are crucial in development and prevention of dental diseases.

These problems can affect many aspects of your child’s development, including growth, confidence and learning abilities. It’s essential that your child visits the dentist to ensure that the safe prevention and early intervention in any potential dental problems.

Children between the ages of 2 and 17 years from families who receive the Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or certain other government payments will be entitled to the benefit. Other government funds which include:

  • ABSTUDY
  • Youth Allowance
  • Parenting Payment
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Special Benefit
  • Carer Payment
  • Double Orphan Pension
  • Veteran’s Children Education Scheme, if the child is 16 or over
  • Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme, if the child is 16 or over

Dental Treatment For Children under the Child Dental Benefits Schedules

Eligible children will receive a capped benefit of $1000 for basic dental services over 2 consecutive calendar years. If you do not use the $1,000 benefit in the first year, it can be rolled over into the second year if you are still eligible. However, any remaining balance cannot be carried forward at the end of the second year. A range of general dentistry is covered under the Child dental Benefits Schedule. These include:

  • Examinations
  • X-rays
  • Cleaning
  • Fissure sealing
  • Fillings
  • Root canals
  • Extractions

Pay no gap fee at Argyle Street Family Dentist

At Argyle Street Family Dentist, we offer bulk billing under Medicare for examinations and preventive procedures relating to the CDBS. This means that you will have no out-of-pocket expenses for any of the general dentistry services covered by the CDBS. The only time you will have to pay for your services is when you exceed the capped limit of $1000 within the two year period.
